Need More Members?
« on: March 25, 2013, 03:31:50 AM »
Hey fellas!  I think that we need a few more members ... for those of you who have some invites available, I remind you that that is an important part of the website.  We can't get all 45000 images between the 5-7 of us  ;)   Also, it would be good to add some fresh blood to the forums, etc.

If you are like me and don't know any banknote collectors in person, I recommend doing what I do:  I message a few banknote sellers and buyers on eBay (ones that you have dealt with before), and I ask them whether they would be interested.

Just an idea ...  ;)

I am quite certain that 97% of the 'people' registered in the forum are accounts created by spam bots or some such thing.  I used to delete these accounts on a daily basis, but now its getting out of control, with up to 20 new accounts being created every day.

Please do not send invites to these 'users' without some form of communication first.  Like I've said, I like eBay for that sort of thing because then you know that the person you are inviting is a current collector who is still adding to his collection.

no worries .. i will hunt them the moment they start to post nasty stuff .. as long as they are silent , i decided to let them be here.

As for the invite, sure .. only to real collectors.. i invited a swiss guy with a very large collection who sells/buys..
haven't seen him (yet)

There is a Swiss user with the handle 'snaveen' that registered in February, but has not been back since.  Is that the guy?

On the "application" for membership you have various fields that might look suspicious to passing collectors. For example you ask for Ebay account and (iirc) even Paypal details! This will arouse a lot of suspicions and deter many people from signing up. I suggest you make it EXTREMELY CLEAR that these are entirely optional pieces of information!

OK, so the registration page states, in all caps, that PayPal, eBay and Address information is all optional.  I just thought that since the red font stuff was required, and all those fields were in white, that it was clear that these fields were optional, but I guess this can't hurt.  Thanks for the suggestion.
