French Afars and Issas pick 32: 1000 Francs from 1974

ND (1974). Multicolored banknote, with pink, orange, green and yellow background in frame on front. Within this colorful frame is a woman facing left and holding jug at left center, with some architecture featured in the background at bottom right. On the back side of this paper money the primary image of the woman holding a jug is reversed; she is now at right, facing right and the architecture that was featured in the background on the front of this note has now been replaced by a ship.

Collectors Comment: Emissione 1974. Denominazione con cui dal 1967 al 1977 fu chiamata – sulla base dei due prevalenti gruppi etnici ivi stanziati – una regione dell'Africa orientale, istituita in Territorio d'Oltremare della Francia, oggi corrispondente alla Repubblica di Gibuti. Territorio in gran parte desertico, esteso a semicerchio attorno alla profonda insenatura del golfo di Tagiura, esso incentra la propria economia sulla città di Gibuti, dove vive altresì l'assoluta maggioranza della popolazione; da ciò il nome assunto dallo Stato al momento dell'indipendenza.
